1961 Porsche 356B Roadster
Porsche designed the 356 with performance in mind. By refining the engine from mid-rear to its eventual rear placement, and tweaking design elements, the 356 was lighter and faster than many of its contemporaries. As the 356 was further refined for performance, it shared fewer parts with its sister car, the Volkswagen Beetle. -duPont Registry
After spending several years on the West Coast this 1961 Porsche 356B was sold by European Collectibles of Costa Mesa California to a buyer in New England in 2006. Originally finished in Ruby Red with gray leatherette upholstery this 356 was restored by the fore mentioned company in 1999. At the point of restoration this Porsche underwent a color change to Porsche Black as it is currently presented.
Under the current ownership the 1.6-liter motor was torn down and completely rebuilt by Meister Restorations in 2009 at approximately 39,000 miles and at that time of the rebuild the motor was increased to 1.7 liters.
This Porsche has been meticulously maintained and repaired as needed, which is evident by extensive records dating back over 25 years.
The black interior with black leather front seats shows extremely well and is accented by the VDO gauges set in the body-colored dash panel and the period correct wood steering wheel.
The underside of this 1961 Porsche 356B has been detailed and shows very well with no signs of rust or corrosion on the underside panels.
The 15″ vented steel wheels wear hubcaps with color crests and are mounted with 165SR15 Michelin XZX tires.
If you are interested in a well-sorted, beautifully driving 356 then this is the Porsche for you.
