1957 Porsche 356A "Super"
"Porsche designed the 356 with performance in mind. By refining the engine from mid-rear to its eventual rear placement, and tweaking design elements, the 356 was lighter and faster than many of its contemporaries. As the 356 was further refined for performance, it shared fewer parts with its sister car, the Volkswagen Beetle. The original 356 (also called "pre-A") is easy to recognize from its two-piece windscreen divided by a center bar. This was replaced by a single-piece windscreen with a center bend as of model year 1952." - Start World Transportation
This stunning 1957 Porsche 356A “Super” Sunroof Coupe is finished in its original color of Derby Red with a beige leatherette interior with corduroy inserts. The interior of the Porsche is well optioned including period correct headrest. The beige interior upholstery with the oatmeal square weave carpet is accented perfectly against the mirror finish of the Derby Red exterior.
Although refinished in 1989 the body panel fit on this Porsche 356A Super are concours presentation worthy.
The correct 1600cc “Super” motor was rebuilt on this Porsche approximately 22,000 miles ago and continues to run with perfection. The transmission shifts smoothly, and the 4-wheel drum brakes stop the car straight.
This well documented 1957 Porsche 356A “Super” Sunroof Coupe is one of the most desirable 356's to own and examples like this one are getting harder to find.
This Porsche has won several accolades from 1989 to 2018 including PCA Concourse as well as numerous Regional events.
