1966 Harley Davidson Shovelhead
1966 Harley Davidson Shovelhead motorcycle, the Shovelhead was Harley Davidson's third generation of the OHV motorcycle, the Shovelhead was first produced in 1966 and ended production in 1984.
This 1966 Harley Davidson Shovelhead was restored over a two year period from 1996-1998. The restoration of this motorcycle was a no expense spared production. It is said that 100% of the part for this restoration are original Harley Davidson with no aftermarket part used.
Prior to the restoration the odometer was 25,567 miles, the odometer was professionally rebuilt and set to zero. The bike now shows only 14 miles.
The extent of the restoration of this Harley Davidson was both cosmetic and mechanical. The transmission was completely rebuilt as well as the motor which was bored 40 over. The required parts were either re-chromed, new or cadmium coated.
In 1999 this bike placed first in the Boston Indoor Bike Show and was shortly thereafter drained of all fluids, cylinders fogged and the bike was put on display.
In May of 2014 the bike gained life again and is currently ready to ride.
This is an exceptional value on a high end complete restoration of a desirable Harley Davidson motorcycle.
